Helen Vesley Sukup Obituary
Services for Helen Sukup of Verdigre were Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. The Rev. Doug Scheinost was the celebrant. Katrina Hollmann, organist accompanied soloist Delane Dalton. Pallbearers were Dan Sukup, Wally Sukup, Kenny Sukup, Jim Vesely, Jason Vesely and Willard Ruzicka. Honorary pallbearers were Deb Hrasky, Missy Sukup, Todd Sukup, Nicole Cloudt, Chris Drobny and Kara Baird. Interment was st St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Brockhaus Funeral Chapel of Verdigre was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 11, from 5:00 to 8:00 with 7:30 wake service at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre.

Helen G. Sukup daughter of Vaclac F. and Josie (Cuhel) Vesely, was born January 1, 1918 at Pischelville, NE. She attended Verdigre Public Schools at Verdigre, NE. On April 6, 1942, she married Adolph Sukup at St. Wenceslaus Church in Verdigre. Two children were born to them: Melvin and Larry. They lived northwest of Verdigre their entire married life before they moved into Verdigre after retiring on October 1, 1980.

Helen was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.

Helen died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the age of 92 at Alpine Village in Verdigre.
She is survived by sons, Melvin (Marsha) Sukup of Harvard, NE and Larry (Diana) Sukup of Verdigre; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Roselia Schreier of Chicago, ILL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph in 2008, her parents; sisters Tillie Spear, Esther Vlasnik and Josephine Cannon; and brothers, Arthur, Leon and William Vesely.

Helen married Adolph Joseph Sukup, son of John William Sukup and Julia Lavinia Kurka Sukup, on 6 Apr 1942 in Verdigre, NE. (Adolph Joseph Sukup was born on 10 Jan 1918 in Verdigre, NE, died on 10 Jul 2008 in Yankton , SD and was buried on 14 Jul 2008 in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery- Verdigre, NE.)
