JoAnn Frances Cerny Jons

  General Notes:

JoAnn Frances Cerny Jons was born June 28, 1930 in Spencer, NE to James and Iva (Carlson) Cerny.
She passed awat February 7, 2018 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 87 years.
JoAnn attended country school a mile east of the family farm where she grew up and presently lived. She graduated from Naper High School in 1948.
After taking a business correspondence course with the intentions of getting a job, she met the love of her life, Delmer, at a dance in Bonesteel, SD on St. Patrick's Day.
They were soon engaged.
After serving gin Korea and his discharge from the Army, Delmer and JoAnn were married.
They purchased a quarter of land with its buildings from her parents. It was this small dairy farm that they raised their nine daughters and five sons.
Mom was very strong in her faith and attended the United Church of Christ in Naper her entire life..
Her family was everything to her.
Not only did she inspire the values of faith and trust in God, but also hard work, humility, and always giving to others.
Mom had the biggest heart and touched our lives in so many countless ways.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to her chickens and always cooking in the kitchen..
No one could make buns or pies like Mom!
She always told us to "count our blessings".
We have a lifetime of wonderful memories and her legacy of love that she's left us with.
JoAnn is survived by her children: Paula (John Brown), Lorna, Julie, Brenda (Ed Murtha), Eldon (Robin), Janet (Joe Pistulka) Arlyn (Sandi), Verlyn (Dana), Barb, Lisa (Russ Wright), Galen (DJ), Patty (Ed Bowers), LeAnn (Maurice Cox), Gordon (Rhiannon), her grandchildren: Brittany Brown, Bryan Brown, Jeff Isenberg (Ramona), Dan Murtha, David Murtha (Justine), Erin Murtha (Sean Hartka), Mateya Murtha, Christopher Pistulka, Alex Pistulka, Heather Jons (Josh Kitzan), Paul Jons, Curt Jons, Andrew Jons, Matthew Jons, Katie Wright, Allen Wright, Logan Bowers, Lucas Bowers, Josie Cox, Jill Cox, Toby Cox, Tate Cox, Jenna Cox, Ty Cox, Abigail Jons, and Amos Jons; her great-grandchildren, Isen and Elizabeth Kitzan and Adrian Ulici.

Other survivors include her sister-in-law Rose Marie Cerny, brother-in-law, Malvern Jons and wife Alice, sister-in-law Elaine Kurtz and husband Bob, sister-in-law Dolores Jons, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Delmer, infant grandson Michael Pistulka, brother James Cerny, infant brother Fred Stanley, brother-in-law Harley Jons, and her parent.

Funeral servises will be held Feb 12, 2018 at UCC Church in Naper, NE
Burial will be in the Knollcrest Cemetery, Naper, NE.

JoAnn married Delmer Lee Jons on 6 Jun 1952. (Delmer Lee Jons was born on 31 Jan 1925 in Bonesteel, SD, died on 21 Jun 2016 in Sioux Falls, SD and was buried on 28 Jun 2016 in Naper, NE.)
