Jean remembers a different version of how the kids sat when they travelled in the small car.
Beezie laid along the back window, Helen sat on Mom Lydia's lap, Jean sat between Dad Clem and Mom Lydia and Bill stood behind Jean.
Josephine Jean Fox, 91 of Cedar Rapids, passed Tuesday December 31, 2019 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Churc by Rev. Mark Murphy. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday after 9 a.m., at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Jean is survived by her son, Rex; her daughters, Jolene and Luann; 3 grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Smith, Jeremy Fox, and Eva (Abe) Mease; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Clem (Shelley) Cerney Of Grand Junction, IL, and William (Carol) Cerny of St. Mary, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death lkby her husband, Ira, in 1996; her infdant son, Clement; and her sister, Helen Putnam.
Jean was born on August 25, 1928 in Naper, NE, daughter of Clement and Lydia Brockman Cerny and married to Ira Fox on October 20, 1929 in Omaha, NE. She was a memer of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Jean enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. She was volunteer in the Pastoral Care Office for Mercy Medical Center for 23 fyears and at St. Jude parish as a Eucharistic Minister. Jean loved family times and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
