Paul James Van Brocklin son of Fred and Laura Van Brocklin died Aug. 5, 2013 in Costa Rica where he has spent the last 40 years. There will be no service. Paul will be buried next to his son at the family's mountain property.
Paul was born Nov 19, 1922. He lived in Creighton and attended St. Ludger Academy graduating in 1939. He joined the Navy in 1941. After returning from the Navy he and friend Jens Jensen operated the Creighton Airport, until he was recalled in 1951.
Paul had many interests and ideas. Owning a furniture store in California, a fish farm and berry plantation in Costa Rica, he kept busy until being struck with Alzheimer's a few years back.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul James Jr., and his parents, Fred and Laura Van Brocklin.
Survivors include his wife, Carroll Gwendolyn Van Brocklin; two daughters, Laura Lee and Vanessa Miller; five grandchildren Justin, Brandi, Melanie, Donovan and Elisa and one great-granddaughter Avyah.
