Obituary of Lydia Humpal Pistulka:
Funeral services were conductedFriday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church of the Sacred Heart in Burke, S.D. for Lydia Pistulka. The rosary was recited Thursday evening and burial services at the Graceland cemetery in Burke.
Pallbearers were grandsons of Lydia Pistulka: Thomas Cerny, Eugene Cerny, Raymond Cerny, Ronald Hawley, Jerome Raterman and Donald Effle.
Lydia(Humpal) Pistulka, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Konda) Humpal was born Dec 20, 1890 near Kimball, S.D. She passed away March 22, 1977 at the age of 86.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Charles Pisulka on September 14, 1910. To this union, three children were born: Mildred, Edward and Mamie. The couple lived on a farm southwest of Bonesteel and in 1925 moved to a farming location east of Herrick, S.D. Lydia lived her entire life in these rural settings; devoting her time and energies to a Christian way of life, her family, and sharing the hardships and joys of friends, relatives, and neighbors.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in August of 1975. She leaves to mourn her passing, children Mrs. Frank Cerny of Creighton, Nebraska, Edward Pistulka of Herrick, South Dakota and Mrs. Henry Raterman of Wessington Springs, S. D. There are eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
To consider all the loving deeds
of Mother and Grandmother,
Is to consider and understand
her purpose.
Where the deeds fade with memory
the purpose remains.
To know that the purpose was
inspired by God,
Is to know Eternity and her
purpose has been fulfilled.

Lydia married Thomas Charles Pistulka, son of John Pistulka and Mary Berka Pistulka, on 14 Sep 1910 in Herrick, SD. (Thomas Charles Pistulka was born on 28 Dec 1886 in Ameria and died on 18 Aug 1975 in Herrick, SD.)
