Norma Mcmullen Woods

  General Notes:

Norma was born in Grand Island, NE on February 24, 1927 to Harry R. McMullen and Louise D. (Kloppenburg). She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1945.
On August 18, 1946, Norma married Lyle E. Woods in Grand Island, NE.
Norma worked in various clerical positions throughout her career at Sothman Lumber Company, the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, the City of Greand Island, and she retired from Norwest Bank in 1990. She was an accomplished soloist and a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Chouir for 54 years. Norma was widely known throughout the community as a favorite soloist for numerous funerals over the years. Her heavenly alto voice provided comfort for many grieving families for decades.
Norma and Lyle were members of the Platt-Duetsche Society for many years where they enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends and family. Norma also enjoyed playing cards for many years in her card club with her closest lifelong friends, and she was also a member of Grand Island City Singers.
Surviving family members include a brother, Gordon (Marlene) McMullen of Upland, CA and sons David (Wahoo, NE), Steven (Council Bluffs, IA) and Scott (Gina) Woods (Grand Island, NE).
Grandchildren include: Randy (Michelle) Woods of Omaha, Katie (Tom) Jeffrey of Lincoln, Susan (Justin) Gripp of Lincoln, Mallory and Megan Woods of Omaha, and Gracie Woods of Grand Island. Great-Grandchildren include: Taylor & Skylar Woods of Omaha, Alyssa & Brynn Jeffrey of Lincoln and Clara Gripp of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James McMullen and her husband, Lyle.
