The John and Mary Protivinsky family immigrated to America in 1888 and settled in Brown County, NE where they resided two years. They then took a Boyd County Homestead in 1890. They encouraged Mary's sister Anastasia and her husband Frank Cerny to come to America. They came in 1891. The Protovinsky family lived in Boyd County for 10 years then they moved to Thayer, NE. A year later they came to Stanton, NE. Mary Protovinsky died in Stanton, NE in 1922.
