bullet  General Notes:

Guillaume de Lorimier, of the Riviere, Lord of Boyne, captain in the Royal navy, came to Canada in 1685. He was accompanied by his son, Guillaume de Lorimier, Lord of the border. Mr. deLorimier, after having taken an honorable part in the military events of this period, went back to France at the time of the departure of M. the Marquis de Denonville. He was accompanied by Captain Donvilliers, Macary, St. Flours and St. Cinq.

M. de Lorimier belonged to the distinguished family of the Camilly de Lorimier, one of whose members, Claud de Lorimier, was made Marshall of France in 1703, in recompence for his numerous services. Another member of this family, Claud Charles de Lorimier, faithful friend of the unfortunate sovereign, Louis XVI, merited the signal honor of being mentioned in the will of the martyr king. His loyalty did not pass unpercieved at this sad time, and in truth, in 1795, M. Claude de Lorimier was executed on the scaffold, a victim to his attachment to his lawful king. At the coming of Louis XVIII to the throne, the son of the preceding Chamilly de Lorimier was made (Knight) Chevalier of St. Louis, and named Chancellor of the King.
