Julia Carol Sukup Riibe

Julia C. Riibe, daughter of John and Julia (Kurka) Sukup, was born on February 22, 1912 at Walnut, NE and died on Monday, November 19, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, NE at the age of 95.

Julia grew up in the Verdigre area and graduated from the Verdigre High School in 1932. She then lived with her parents on a farm near Verdigre until her marriage to Alphonse W. "Buster" Riibe on July 7, 1942 in Omaha. From 1944 to 1945, while Buster was in the service, they lived in New York City. They moved to Hartington in 1945. Julia was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and was a 50 year member of the Lunar Extension Club. She enjoyed reading and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She loved being with her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Julia is survived by 3 children and their spouses; Julie and Robert Kastrup, Jean and Jerry Hoffart of Hartington, and Jerry and Jody Riibe of Fremont, NE, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a brother and his wife, Adolph and Helen Sukup of Verdigre, a sister, Delores Meyer of Appleton, MN, and sister-in-law Joan Sukup of Verdigre, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Jan 10, 1989 at the age of 74 an infant daughter, Janet Riibe, 2 brothers, John and Walter Sukup, and a sister Rose Carrell.

Julia married Alphonse W. (Bud) Riibe on 7 Jul 1942 in Verdigre, NE. (Alphonse W. (Bud) Riibe was born on 30 Jun 1914 in Hartington, NE and died on 10 Jan 1989 in Hartington, NE.)
