Adolph J. Sukup
(January 10, 1918 - July 10, 2008)
Funeral services for Adolph J. Sukup, age 90, of Verdigre, will be held Monday, July 14 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. Fr. Doug Scheinost will be the celebrant with burial in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. wake service at Brockhaus Funeral Chapel in Verdigre.
Adolph Sukup, son of John and Julia (Kurka) Sukup, was born January 10, 1918 at Walnut, NE. He attended District #26 rural school through the 8th grade. Adolph married Helen Vesely on April 6, 1942 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. To this union 2 children were born, Melvin and Larry. Adolph and Helen farmed northwest of Verdigre all their married lives until retiring and moving to town in 1980.
Adolph was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed sports, especially basketball.
He died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD at the age of 90.
Survivors include his wife Helen of Verdigre; sons and their wives, Melvin and Marsha Sukup of Harvard, NE and Larry and Diana Sukup of Verdigre; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John and Walter; and 3 sisters, Julia Riibe, Rose Carrell, and Delores Meyer.
