Rose M. Kurka Crosley

Rose M. Crosley was born on May 17, 1915 in Verdigre to Frank J. and Rose (Marshall) Kurka. She grew up in Verdigre and graduated from Verdigre Public High School in 1933.
She married L. Earl Crosley on July 5, 1936 at the Presbyterian Church in O'Neill, NE. She and her husband farmed near Santee for 18 years. They moved to Niobrara in 1955 where they owned and operated Crosley Sand & Gravel until the time of Earl's death at the age of 62 on Aug. 2, 1974.
Rose was the bookkeeper for Crosley Sand and Gravel. Rose then moved to Crofton and lived there until moving to Ponca in 1998. She loved to read and play cards.
She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church in Niobrara and the United Church of Christ Congregational in Crofton, where she held various offices in those churches. She was past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 229 in Crofton.
Rose is survived by a daughter Doris and Larry Buhl of Ponca; a granddaughter Kim and Russ Uhing and their son Pete of Lincoln; two grandsons, Russ and Melissa Crosley and their sons Tanner and Cody of Crofton, Allan and Laura Crosley of Crofton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Larry Crosley and a brother Wenzel Kurka.
Pallbearers are Russ Crosley, Allan Crosley, Russ Uhing and Peter Uhing.

Rose married Leslie Earl Crosley on 5 Jul 1937. (Leslie Earl Crosley was born on 11 Aug 1912 in Springfield, SD and died on 2 Aug 1974.)
