Raymond Henry Sukup

  General Notes:

Ray was a really neat guy! He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Ray was a good Father and Husband and Grandfather. He was a good brother to his brothers and sister and a special helper to Mom and Dad.

He was a "jack of all trades". Ray was able to make pieces of machinery by welding various pieces together.

He used Mom Wilma's rug machine and made an altar cloth for St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, NE

Ray Sukup Obituary
Services for Ray H Sukup, 63, Creighton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. The Rev. Keith Rezac will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creihton and 8-9 pm with an 8:30 pm wake at the church.
He died Monday, March 6, 2000 at home.
The son of John and Wilma (Van Brocklin) Jr; was born Feb 27, 1937 at Verdigre. He graduated from St. Ludger Academy in 1954, then served in the US Army for three years.
He was married to Ann Schlichting of Randolph on Feb 27, 1960. The couple farmed west of Creighton for 39 years, moving to town in 1999. He had also been employed by the Country General Store in :Creighton.
Mr. Sukup was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church and served as a minister of the word and on the parish council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Creighton Rural Firemen Association and was the treasurer for the St. Ludger Alumni Association. He was a former member of the Verdigre School Board, Logan Township Board and the Knox County 4-H Council.Survivors include his wife, four daughters and their husbands, Janet and John Keating of Tempe, AZ, Paula and Kurt Johnson of Aurora, Monica and Gary Emory of Norfolk and Carla and Darin Uhlir of St. Paul; six sons and their wives, Patrick and Val Sukup of Norfolk, John of North Platte, Mark and Trudy of Benton, LA, Gene and Elena of Spangdahlem, Germany, Timothy of North Platte, and Matthew and Jackie of Albuquerque, NM; his father of Creighton, one sister; Julie Cerny of Madison; two brothers, Daniel of Wayne and David of Manhattan, KS and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Mother.

Raymond married Ida Ann Schlichting Sukup, daughter of Frank Schlichting and Agnes Ronspies Schlichting, on 27 Feb 1960 in Randolph, NE. (Ida Ann Schlichting Sukup was born on 8 Jan 1937 in Randolph, NE, died on 29 Oct 2022 in Norfolk, NE and was buried on 4 Nov 2022 in St Ludger, Creighton, NE.)
